Deception Pass Vacation (Days 6 & 7)...

THURSDAY, Day 6:
We woke up Thursday morning to several muddy lakes lining the entrance to our tent.  The rain came down in buckets and the aftermath of our campground was not a pretty sight.  My dad, Patti and Bryan took off crabbing for the day so Jenny and I decided to "cheat" and spend a day visiting with Grandma Emily and Uncle Mike, do some laundry and bathe the kids in OUR tub.

By the time the afternoon rolled around we were feeling completely refreshed and headed back in to camp.  We took a quick side trip at the Shrimp Shack and feasted on succulent deep fried treats with the rest of our gang...
When we returned to the campground it was still a little wet so we did our best to keep Charlie contained...
The tent didn't seem to do the trick so we headed on down to the beach for some evening fun...
Charlie was a scooting fool and made his way up and down the rocks like it was nothing...
The kids spent most of their time balancing on logs...
...and playing on our makeshift "teeter totter"...
After a little while Auntie Jenny, Uncle Zach and Buster made their way down to the beach as well...
Love these boys...
Love this family...
The sun finally began to set, the waves began crashing the shore and we headed back up to camp to settle in for the evening...
The glow sticks somehow made another appearance along with Captain Zoom....
And "Rapunzel" found a fancy way to make her hair really glow...
 A little craziness...
...and then they were literally fast asleep...
FRIDAY, Day 7
On Friday we woke up and made a feast of a breakfast...
"BACON!!!"
Then the kids were off to the forest to find fairies, pixie dust, big bad wolves and other enchanted characters...
I LOVE this next series of pictures of Grandpa Jim and Charlie...
When we had had enough of camp we rode our bikes down to the "tee pee beach"...
Emily was so serious at the beach...working diligently to plant all of her "crops of corn."  She was Pocahontas all afternoon...
Jack did some rock exploring for awhile but eventually spent most of his time building bridges for Thomas...
Charlie was so easy to have at the beach.  He literally scooted around for hours, stopping only to taste a few samples of sand and rocks before I would rush over and scoop them out....
He must have been hungry because when we got back to camp he began throwing fistful and fistful of black licorice into his mouth.  When his cheeks began to bulge and a guilty grin seeped across his face I assisted him in removing a few.  If you have every seen the movie GOONIES this event totally reminded of me of this scene.  GOONIES was our ALL TIME FAVORITE movie growing up since we spent each summer at Cannon Beach.  I always dreamed of finding the pirate ship and jewles in Haystack Rock.  Apparently the only thing I am ever going to find though is slobbery, chewed up licorice!

We spent the rest of the evening sitting by the fire...
 ...drinking Patti's AMAZING Bloody Mary's...
... feasting on FRESH shrimp...
...painting...
...and blowing up water balloons for the kids...
Seven days down, TWO more to go...

Deception Pass Vacation (Days 4 & 5)...

DAY 4 (Tuesday):
We headed down to the beach bright and early on Tuesday morning.  After three full days with Grandpa Jim, Jack decided that he had to be where ever Grandpa "Jeeeem" was.  It was the first thing out of his mouth in the morning and continued on until late into the evening...
Emily scored some beautiful sea shells on the beach...
Emily found her way back to Auntie Jenny and they made a master piece of a sand castle...
Around noon Grandma Emily and Uncle Mike drove out to visit with us...
We ate a big lunch down at the beach and then headed back up to the camp ground to start some crafts.  The BIG craft of the day was painting beach rocks...
Staying true to the Moore in me, my dad and I briefly entertained a paint war....
When the laughter finally subsided we got back to painting and finished up the last of our rocks...
Uncle Mike and Jack did some exploring...
While Charlie was entertained in the "red neck play pin"...
Grandma Emily and Uncle Mike made their way home soon after and we settled in for the night around the campfire...
Charlie figured out how to work the stereo and played "Captain Zoom" one hundred thousand times...
...and I attempted french braiding for the first time on Emily's hair.  It was far from perfect but this little Rapunzel was thoroughly impressed...

My dad set up these "fancy" camping lights all around the canopy.  They looked mighty festive but hung a little low.  You would think that I would have started ducking after getting caught in them a few times but it took about FIVE times of ripping my hair out and laughing until my belly ached to finally scoop a little lower while I was plating up my food...
Charlie tried out the Cougar outfit just before dark.  All of the kids have sported this outfit at sometime or another.  I waited just a little too long with Charlie.  The poor little guy's thighs were bursting through the sides and the legs fit more like shorts than pants....
DAY 4 (Wednesday)...
On Wednesday my dad, Patti and Bryan all went fishing for the day while Auntie Jenny and I took the kids into town for the day.  When we arrived home we were all famished so we fixed up a fancy taco dinner with all of the fixings you could imagine.  Camping with motor home and trailer people means fancy food and very few hot dogs...

The craft for the day was painting...
...and we even found a fancy spot to hang our art work...
Emily decorated Daddy's hat...

Then we all settle in for the evening...
Two more perfect days... we had no idea what we were in for that night....
