MONDAY (July 25th)
The only tradition Bryan and I have for our anniversary is finding somewhere by the water and writing in our journals. My mom on the other hand always reads up on what type of gift you are supposed to give each year and finds the most unique gift for us. This year, year seven, it was wood and copper. She cooked us up an amazing dinner and then presented us with a little surprise...
A wooden salad bowl, wooden salad scoopers and copper cookie cutters. If there is ONE person who really knows what I like it is my mom...
Emily was so excited for our anniversary! She ran straight into the art room and came out with a masterpiece for us...
On Tuesday we got up to an EXCITING phone call. Auntie Jenny's water had broken early in the morning and she was going to have her baby. We had already planned a trip to the zoo for the day and decided to stick with our plan with the intention of leaving at any second to meet the newest addition!
The first stop at the zoo was the cotton candy vendor...
The kids were absolutely perfect the entire afternoon. Jack oohed and awwed over all of the "cute baby" this and thats. I adore that he has adopted the same kind and gentle spirit as Emily...
This is how we roll these days. Usually it is me with the backpack and stroller but we were super lucky to have Daddy come with this on our big trip to the zoo...
The ostrich eggs were a big hit with Jack although he was convinced that were giant chicken eggs...
The lions were a fav as well since they had just seen The Lion King with Auntie Jenny during our vacation...

I think Jack was literally going to climb the fence, jump on and ride that kangaroo...
This was the first time any of us had ever seen the wolves...
And we always LOVE looking at the bears...

...then we were back to exploring...
Jack was fascinated with the fish and just wanted to get to fishing...
...and while I will always be a Bulldog at heart I have definitely found a place for the tiger....
The penguins were a HUGE hit with the kids...
But the BIG star of the day was the DINOSAUR exhibit. The kids were absolutely fascinated as they watched the dinosaurs sway back and forth, make noises and even squirt water from time to time...
While Emily absolutely LOVED all of the dinosaurs Jack was only interested in the babies...
We got a few items from the gift shop...
Then returned for ONE more trip through the dinosaurs. This was by far the high light of the entire zoo trip for the kids...
The kids stopped to meet some turtles...
then made their way over to the flamingos...
The afternoon really could not have gone any smoother...as far as the zoo trip went that is.
While we were busy playing away for the day Auntie Jenny was busy going through labor. We hadn't heard any progress so we had no idea when we should head to the hospital. Eventually we decided to have Bryan drop me off at the hospital and he took the kids home for the evening.
My mom was already waiting in anticipation and a few hours after we arrived the rest of both sides of the family arrived. The rest is easy to follow...

It's amazing how much you can love someone so much in such a short amount of time. This little baby is absolutely perfect in every way...
