On the Tuesday of spring break we decided to take our chances with the rain and headed to NW Trek for the day. We had never been before but quickly decided that we would choose it over the zoo any day. The rain came down on us a little but it made for great mud puddles to splash in as we trudged through the trails to see the indigenous animals of the Pacific Northwest.
To say that we were excited would be an understatement. This is the closest comparison to Yellow Stone I have ever experienced and we were all jumping out of our seats for an entire hour...
Emily and I attempted holding the camera and taking a picture of ourselves...
When the ride was over the kids were tired and groggy so we hit up the gift shop and made our way to Auntie Jenny and Uncle Zach's house to continue our spring break fun!
We only had about 45 minutes to tour around before our tram left so we made our way to see the cats first. The Canadian Lynx was our first stop...
Then we made our way to the see the cougar. We spent the majority of our time on this single exhibit, proof that Bryan has been successful in breeding three Cougs of his own...
Next stop...the coyotes!
Soon after seeing the coyotes we realized that our tram ride would be boarding in a few minutes. We quickly scooped up the kids and made a mad dash to the boarding area. We missed out on about 3/4 of the rest of the animals on the trails but decided that we could see them again another time. The kids were eager to ride the tram and Bryan and I were ready to warm up a bit.
As soon as we took our seat, I peered out the window next to me and this is what I saw...
I have a thing for bison. When I was about Emily's age my Uncle Wally sent me a picture of a bison from a trip he took to the Midwest. The message inside was that he had let his hair and beard grow out and this is now what he looked like. I still have the picture tucked away and every time I see a bison I think about that story and how funny it was that I believed him.
We spotted a few antlers along the way...
About 30 minutes into the ride Charlie and Jack fell asleep. With over two hours of travel time and it now being late in the afternoon they definitely needed a good rest...
