playing, picking, participating...

On Wednesday morning we woke up to drizzling rain and dark clouds outside but before I had time to sulk my good friend Jennette called us up and invited us for an early morning play date at the beach.  It was a little chilly but it was nothing a little jacket couldn't fix...

On our way home from the beach we stopped by Grandpa Jim's garden and did a little produce shopping...

Later that evening we picked up Daddy at work and attended our first All Comers Track Meet of the year.  We can only make a few meets this year with our vacation schedule so I didn't purchase a season pass this year.  I did however sign up Charlie with the two year olds (he thinks he is two so that counts, right?)

 Charlie was so excited that he just kept on running around the track even after the race was over...

 

Next, it was Jack's turn.  He was feeling a little hesitant being my timid child but once he got going there was no stopping him!

I didn't get any pictures of Emily doing the hurdles because she and her friend Norah accidentally ran with the wrong heat.  Emily was an independent girl all evening, finding her preschool buddies and hanging out with them instead of mom and dad.  I did get ONE shot of all three of my little runners...

 Oh wait, I guess I got two.  Charlie was SO MAD that he couldn't keep running...

 Next we headed over to the long jump while we waited for the 50 meter dash to begin...

 The lines for the shot put and soft ball throw were l...o...n...g so we practiced running for awhile...

 I am not sure how much "dashing" was going on during the one and two year old session of the 50 meter dash but even at this pace Charlie won the heat...

 Those three year olds knew what to do.  These kiddoes were flying...

 Jack ran right to me, threw his arms around me and literally knocked me to the ground...

 Emily took a more serious approach...

 We headed back to the long jump a few more times while the line was short...

 I will take six days straight of boring rainy days for just one day like this anytime!

June FUN...

While many of our June days have been spent riding bikes in the garage anytime we can get outside we do.  Last week we had Christian for three whole days.  He got his first little introduction to making mud pies...

Charlie has had the sillies late at night for a few weeks now.  Sometimes he just runs around in circles, spinning himself into a frenzy just to escape the thought of going to bed...

Last Saturday we headed up to Bellingham for a cancer benefit dinner hosted by Cousin Maria, Cousin Dan and Cousin Alison.  Grandma Jones purchased a toy for each of the kids and Uncle Dean-O got busy playing with them right away...

 Charlie got his own set up little cars but he was fixated on Emily's Barbie car...

 LOVED that these two played together so nicely.  They have turned in great buddies lately...

 Dan and Maria have a sport court in their backyard and the kids loved running around on it...

 Dinner was delish...

 ...and dessert was even better...

 On Monday we headed to the park for a picnic and some fun outside...

On Tuesday the sun went away but we played in the backyard until the rain drops fell hard enough to drive us back inside.  The kids finally "released" the butterflies but after an hour or so of fun and entertainment by the kids they all "fell asleep"...

Jack kept throwing the butterflies in the air, whispering, "fly away butterfly, fly away" but this one really liked him.  It flew right back and landed on his bum!
