Deception Pass State Park...

We love camping so when my dad called and told us that he got reservations for his birthday we were super excited to tag along.  Jenny and Zach just purchased an a.m.a.z.i.n.g. new trailer and luckily got the campsite right next to my dad and Patti.

We were supposed to come out Friday night but we changed our plans and came out Saturday morning so that we could spend some time with the Jones crew celebrating Big Tom's 30th birthday.  We were some tired people on Saturday morning but somehow we rallied and were at the campground by 9am.  We ate some delicious breakfast and then headed straight to the beach...

After a long time of throwing rocks we headed up the beach so the kids could play in the sand...
Jack sat and played contently in the sand for over an hour while Auntie Jenny took Emily on a little adventure...
After a long day at the beach we headed back up to the campground.  Both of the kids love snuggling up around the campfire...

On Sunday Bryan decided to liven up camp a little bit and broke out the guitar.  I'm not sure what was more precious...Jack trying to strum along or Emily yelling requests for "No Birds in the Sky."
All in all it was a fabulous weekend full of lots of fun and adventures.  I have to admit that it was a little bittersweet leaving.  While we had a wonderful time camping and I enjoyed every moment of our time, it was a little sad to think that this may be these Joneses only camping trip of the summer.  Oh well, I am sure we will have plenty of fun at home anticipating the arrival of Baby Jones.

Bellies...

On our way home from our weekend adventures camping at Deception Pass State Park (pictures on the way) we met up with some good friends as they passed through Mount Vernon.  Andy and Lisa were just married this past September and are expecting their first little one four days after me.  It was so fun to stop and see them, compare bellies and talk about all the adventures of being pregnant...

Bean Bags...

I finally got a few more items checked off my sewing list (more pics to come soon).  I stayed up late last Tuesday and Wednesday night and didn't stop until the bean bags I was making for Jake and Max, my nephews, were complete.

I love the fabric my sister-in-law picked out.  This one is for Cowboy Max....

And this one is for Jake....

The sewing part is one thing but filling them is another.  I waited until the kids woke up Wednesday morning to fill them.  Since they had both been sick I knew playing in the styrofoam would help perk them up a little. It only took a few seconds for the pile of styrofoam to be quickly spread throughout the WHOLE house.  Every dump truck and tractor was full of the stuff...
When I was finished sewing the lining of each and putting on the slip covers, I placed them in Jack's room for safe keeping.  Later in the day I noticed that only one bean bag was still in Jack's room so I went to find Emily.  She told me she had taken Jake's to her room because "he" was staying with her and "Max" had to stay with Jack.  She continued on talking to the bean bag and playing with it as if it were Jake.  She has quite the imagination these days.
By Thursday the styrofoam was EVERYWHERE.  Honestly.  I found it in the toilet, underneath the frig and stove and even in the front yard.  I got out the shot vac and started cleaning up but left some for Jack to play with while I took Emily to the doctor.  Usually messes like this drive me crazy but I felt so bad cleaning it up knowing how much fun they were having playing with it.  Little did I know that the shot vac was just as fun...

Later that night Bryan decided it was about that time to shave. The kids were fascinated watching him and had lots of questions along the way....

What a handsome man he is!

Toes...where are you?

Some people are so cute and tiny when they are pregnant.  They get this little bump out front and nothing else changes.  That is not the case for me.

At 31 weeks I can barely see my toes, my pants are either too tight or too big and I am constantly tugging at my tee shirt to keep my mammoth belly covered.

As excited as I am to meet this little guy growing bigger in my belly I am trying to savor every last minute of being pregnant.  By this point I am always ready to be done and then when I am, I am constantly missing being pregnant.  You would think that almost 8 months of morning sickness would make you never want to be pregnant again but for some reason I seem to forget these minor details.  I love the whole experience of being pregnant, vanishing toes and all, so I am going to cherish each and every moment that I have left with this little guy in my tummy and pray that he doesn't arrive until God decides it is time.

On a side note, Emily came up to me last night and gave my tummy a big hug.  She told me that she was so excited to have a new brother and that she was going to teach him how to ride Jack's tractors and play with his trucks.  Then she looked up and me and said,"and then I am going to ask God to put a baby sister in your tummy and we can go to the store and buy her some princesses to play with."  What a sweetheart she is!  For a minute I was even considering a fourth...that was only for a minute though.

The best weekend ever....

I really do not think these past three days could have been any sweeter.  This was the best Mother's Day ever and I was surrounded by the two constant reminders of why I am so lucky to get to celebrate this day.

On FRIDAY we got up and out of the house early and went over to spend the day with my mom.  She bought a new sand box for the kids so we set it up, filled it with sand, ate a delicious breakfast on the deck and then played outside all day long...

If you look closely you can see how much butter Emily was attempting to put on her plate.  If she could have eaten the whole slab she would have...
The kids had a blast testing out Grandma's new croquet set she bought for them.  The grass was a little long but they managed their way through it...
Jack then went off picking flowers, a favorite past time of his, but being the sweet little guy he is he would bring each one to Grandma and I...
By noon Emily was ready for a resty in Grandma's big cozy outdoor chair...
While Jack devoured some scrumptious ginger cookies with honey.  The poor kid was a mess by the time he was finished.  Honey, dirt and sand really don't make a great combination...

Jack went down for a nap soon after so we filled the sand box with some dry bags of sand and Emily went to work...
On SATURDAY Emily and I headed out of the house early again for a GIRLS ONLY DAY.  We started off at Starbucks and had some delicious lemon loaf, vanilla milk and a chocolate milk for the road.  Emily dressed herself for the day in the following attire:

  • "poofy" skirt

  • white tank top

  • pink flip flops

  • her Cinderella crown

  • multiple layers of necklaces

  • a few rings
I added the warm jacket and leggings since it was only 8:30am.  We had a little chat about "less is more" but she was just not buying it.  So this is how my little bejazzled daughter looked for the day....
Then we were off for pedicures.  I had a gift certificate I was dying to use and felt like now was the time to use it since I am barely able to see my own toes these days.

Emily sat patiently with me the entire time.  Finally, one of the women asked Emily if she was ready and they went to pick out her nail polish color.  Everyone in the place was laughing when Emily returned with the most neon magenta pink polish one could find.

Then the lady took Emily over to the table and did an actual manicure on her (clean, cut, shape and polish)...
They went back to the chair I had been in and started her pedicure.  They placed a little pillow behind her and propped her up.  Emily LOVED every minute of it and was chatting away with the ladies.  Honestly all I asked for was for someone to paint her toes but the ladies there were so incredibly kind and adoring of Emily that they did a whole lot more...
Then it was time to dry.  Emily was so GOOD and did exactly what they told her to do...
And the finished result...
We then headed off to finish up our summer clothes shopping for she and Jack.  When we got home we were surprised to find out that Grandma Emily was heading over at 6pm so that Bryan and I could go on a date.  Dates are hard to come by, maybe one or two a year, so I was so excited to have an adult evening out.

On SUNDAYwe had a very quiet Mother's Day.  The kids ended up getting really sick for Grandma Emily on Saturday night (high fevers) so we stayed home from church.  Bryan and Emily made me wild berry pancakes and bacon for breakfast and we spent the rest of the day hanging out at the house.  We cancelled our reservations to take my mom out to lunch and instead stayed at our house and barbequed salmon.  Even with sick kiddos it was the perfect end to the perfect weekend...
We have a busy week ahead of us with four doctors appointments between the kids and I.  I am ready to get all of us healthy and crossing my fingers that we will be ready for our fun filled weekend plans.
