August is one of my favorite months. I LOVE eating buckets full of freshly caught crab, watching the kids run around outside and spending quality time with my peeps. It has been a busy summer not having Bryan around much so when we get him for a day, (or two) we savor every last minute of it...
I hope that when I am 64 I have half of the energy that my parents do. I am in awe of their ability to keep going and going, never stopping to take a breath. I think my dad ran around this yard just PLAYING with the kids for over an hour. These are the moments I am so thankful for...
Jack loves picking flowers out of "Grandpa Jeeeem's" garden and putting them in my hair...
He is the sweetest little boy I have ever laid eyes on and I pray that he never loses that gentle, kind spirit of his...
After playing in the yard we had worked up an appetite and were ready to feast......and after all of that scooting Charlie finally wore through his very favorite pants. It may be time for some extra thick patches...
On Sunday we headed over to Anacortes for our annual tour of the street fair. My dad called early in the morning to let us know that there was plenty of face painting, cotton candy and a CHOO CHOO TRAIN! The kids and I climbed aboard and tried to enjoy a very interesting ride...
...found the cotton candy vendor..
The following week Bryan decided to take TWO whole days off. So far he had only taken 5 days off the entire summer and we had spent those camping. So when he let me know he was taking Tuesday and Wednesday off I was super excited. Unfortunately he spent both days fishing for the entire day so I didn't get to see him much. On the plus side, he took Jack all day Tuesday and Emily all day Wednesday and they had a blast spending some well needed one-on-one time with Daddy.
Emily was sooooo sad on Tuesday that she had to go to ballet/tap/tumbling instead of fishing with Daddy and Grandpa. As soon as we got home she greeted them out back and helped Daddy clean up the fish...
My dad always took pictures of the fish in the lawn when we were kids and Bryan was trying to replicate the moment. I think he is trying to catch up to my Dad's "Fish Hall of Fame" collection that he has hanging in his barn...On Wednesday Emily finally got to go fishing and she was one proud little girl...
Bryan clean up all the fish and finally tried out the fish smoker my dad got him when we were first married...
All I have to say it that there is not another morsel left of that delicious smoked salmon! He did a fabulous job....maybe too good because now I am begging him to get back to fishing so we can smoke some more Humpies!
