CAPE DISAPPOINTMENT...

Every summer we take one BIG family camping trip.  Grandpa Jim and Grandma Patti have gifted us this trip for the past few summers and we are incredibly grateful for the generous gift.  It is an amazing time to be together as a family.  We look forward to this trip ALL YEAR LONG (count down beginning in October since that is when we have to book it!)

We left for our trip straight from Fall City, the Sunday after Olivia's party.  It was a long first day of driving but when we finally arrived at Cape Disappointment we were anything but that!  We LOVE Cape Disappointment!  While the weather is never good the memories are incredible.  It was the first place Bryan and I ever ventured on own with the kids and the experience is one that I will never forget.  

Grandpa found some buoys from Japan that had washed ashore...

Poor Charlie was SO cold.  He took cover in a make shift shelter on the beach while the rest of the kiddoes played....

Jack was so proud of his word work on the beach...

But this one was my favorite.  He is such a sweet little boy...

Back at camp we spent a lot of time hanging out around the fire to keep warm at all hours of the day...

On Monday we got up early and headed on over to the Lewis and Clark Museum.  It is a long, steep hike up to the museum but once you get to the top it is well worth it!

The kids each got a special ticket and a ballot to use later at the museum...

I love that Olivia wore this sweatshirt the entire day.  We bought it for Jack 4 years prior (when he was 10 months old) and had visited here for the first time...

 After a few family shots we headed to the same restaurant we had eaten at four years prior...

Then we got our daily camping photo in our trailer shirts....

We found the carousel on the way back to our car and had to go for just one ride...

On Tuesday it was wet and rainy so we spent the morning inside...

After too much trailer fever the littles escaped outside for awhile...

 

The next morning it was pretty awful out but we somehow convinced everyone to go with us to the "TROLL BRIDGE"....

 Then we headed on back for a family bike ride (yes that is Zach on the one-wheel bike with me!)

 After our ride we spent our afternoon visiting with each other around the campfire...

 ...learning about the flies Grandpa had just tied...

 ...and playing of course!

 Uncle Zach put on this sexy hat wig and went to introduce himself to the campers at the next site over...

 Later that evening we headed down to the beach...

 On Wednesday we headed into town and took the Mitchells on a little trek to one of our favorite spots in the world...Clark's Tree...

It's a little jont but the kids were up for the run!

I am not sure what it is about this tree but it symbolizes happiness and a wholeness for our little family...
