The week before New Years was pretty slow around here. My sister came up and stayed for the week to help me out around the house and with the kids. Here are some random pictures of the things they did...
Jenny took the kids to the park to play. Jack had been pressing his face against the sliding glass doors as if to say, "Get me out of here!" and Auntie Jenny responded well. I guess we were all getting a little cabin fever! Plus they needed an excuse to test out their new winter jackets.
Auntie Jenny left the house with the kids without realizing that it had been raining all night. When they got to the park the slides were all wet so being the amazing auntie she is she stripped off her coat and gave it to Emily to slide down the slides with. I should mention that it was freezing outside and she stayed out there for over an hour in a t-shirt. What a good auntie!
They kids all dressed up in their new warm gear for a walk in the woods with dad...

My sister-in-law, Jen, brought down her boys to play one afternoon. Emily's favorite person in the world is her cousin Jake so this was quite the treat for her. They played doctor...

Finally, Emily broke out the accordion while Jake played the flute on the stairs...
Finally, on New Years Eve Bryan and Zach drove up to our house so that we could all spend it together. Originally we had BIG plans but we ended up doing very little. Jenny filled the kitchen with chili rellenos, chips with various fresh dips and steak tacos. We ate and ate and then retreated upstairs for the night. We spent the evening watching Emily act out Where the Wild Things Are until she and Jack crashed around 8pm.

Needless to stay we all fell asleep before midnight but we did wake up at midnight to answer numerous phone calls. The next morning Emily and Bryan headed up to Birch Bay for the Annual Polar Bear Swim with the Jones. Since I couldn't go I didn't get any good pictures but my sister-in-law, Amanda, got some great pictures and posted them on her blog.
Emily doesn't go swimming in the bay but she was super ready to go swimming in the indoor heated pool with daddy...
