On Monday...
our bestest friends Olivia and Jennette came to visit. They even came bearing fresh donuts made just to our order! Emily and Jack were beside themselves...
Jack was suffering from some middle child syndrome. Since Charlie will no longer go to anyone else right now he is always in my arms. Jack must have decided that if I was too busy holding that "baaaby" he would find someone else to hold and pay him some attention...
The girls did not need any entertaining. They played dress-up and with dolls for hours...
After a while we headed back down stairs to make some Valentine snow globes...
When the time finally came for Olivia and her mommy to go the kids were bummed but we promised another fun day very soon...
On Tuesday...
Emily and I headed to Padilla Bay for a field trip while Grandma Emily watched the boys. The speaker did a wonderful job explaining the life within an estuary through acting out, drawing and singing. I couldn't tell you what they are doing in each picture but it was extremely amusing to watch...
Then it was off to the observation rooms to explore...
I LOVED this felt board. The kids love playing with felt boards and it has been on my "to do list" for years. One day I will have the time...Emily continuously gravitated to the baking stuff to make estuary soup...
Then it was off to use our scientist skills to find out if the skunk fur still smelled like skunk...On Wednesday...
Emily went to preschool in the morning and Jack was supposed to have a play date at a jumpie house but his buddy Asher had to stay home with his mommy and a sick baby brother. While we missed hanging out with them I have to say that I was a little apprehensive about the jumpie house since I am convinced they are covered with germs and we had just begun feeling better around this house. Instead we stayed home all day and had our own kind of fun. Jack must have instinctively known we were supposed to go to a jumpie house because he found this plastic bin and placed it on the jumpie and away he went. I knew it was a disaster waiting to happen so I moved the coffee table but I have to admit that instead of making him stop I started taking pictures and filming...
He jumped and jumped and jumped until the inevitable happened. He fell head first onto the floor. I thought I had the whole thing on video but I must have hit the off switch while lunging forward to catch him. The video is "HILARIOUS" (Emily's new favorite word) but I still can't figure out why my videos will not upload. Once it is working again I will just have to post the motherload of videos that I am stockpiling.
we got up early, had all the kids ready to go and out of the house by 8am to take daddy to work, then we all headed to the dentist. Emily and I had check ups first. She was such a big girl and went all by herself! When I was finished it was Jack's turn. This was his third trip to the dentist (18mo, 2 year and now almost 2 1/2) and he as much of a pill this time as he was the first. No cavities ever, great teeth but boy does it take a lot of work to get him to open that mouth. The dentist even hinted that we may need to go to a "special dentist" at some point. Apparently those "special dentists" use drugs to sedate kids or have boards they strap them to. No thanks. I think I will just find one with a TV and lots of prizes. That's more up my alley!
We finished our productive day with our monthly grocery shopping at Costco and Target and then spent the rest of the day at home.
On Friday...
the boys and I went on a good long run in the rain. It felt good to be out and to get my stamina back with running. Emily usually gets to have a sleepover at Grandma's house on Thursday nights so it is just me and the boys on Friday mornings. We just played, played and played some more...
Around 10am Jen and Sy, Amanda and Vinnie and Cousin Alison all stopped by for a toodle stop before shopping in Burlington. I just love these three little guys...
Jack saw the camera and joined right in...
That afternoon I made my grandparents dinner, took it to their house and let the kids play in the NEW playroom...
You would have thought we would be ready to crash but Bryan called while I was there and let me know that he was no longer going out with friends for the night and we were going to the Pearsons' for pizza night instead. WOOHOO! Any time with the Pearsons is always a good time. The kids all played down stairs and the adults had real conversations. Ahhhh...I need that by Friday evening...
On Saturday...
we did NOTHING. You have to love days like this! We stayed in our PJ's all day long and Grandma Emily came over and cooked us a wonderful steak dinner.
On Sunday...
we had nothing planned but at the last minute went to Grandpa Jim and Grandma Patti's house for the Super Bowl. We didn't see much of the game but I think that just shows what a good time we were having..
CHEETOS...a treat we only get with Grandpa Jim...
What a perfect end to a fun-filled week!
