The kids and I spent the last week in July at home while Bryan headed back to work. It was a pretty quiet week filled with LOTS of laundry and cleaning so I was more than ready to head back out on our next adventure that Thursday.
The Joneses, Alison to be exact, put together a great trip to Winthrop this year. We missed out on the big Jones camping trip last year so we were all super excited to get to go this year.
I LOVE the drive to Winthrop and thankfully with the use of headphones and an assortment of DVDs the kids enjoyed the drive as well. We did play a few car games along the way but you can only hold a two and three year olds' attention for so long...
As a kid I camped in Winthrop yearly but we always stayed at Lake Perrygen. Staying at the KOA was a completely different kind of vacation, with all of the amenities, but it was just what we needed with the super hot weather. Our camp site was right next to, or I should say, part of the play ground. While Bryan and I set up camp the kids played in the playground next to us...
Emily wasn't too sure about the playground at first and asked me if it was appropriate for kids or not...
It wasn't too long after we set up that we were joined by some of our favorite people...
Charlie practiced some more potty training behind the trailer...
We stayed outside ALL day, then gathered around the fire before bed...
DAY 2 (Friday):
The next morning the kids enjoyed a real camping breakfast outside after taking a little time to wake up...

Besides the plethora of chairs (meaning lots of family to visit with) I loved the new Cougar canopy we bought...
Bryan tied lots of flies for fly fishing. My dad gave him my grandpa's old pole a while back and it finally got put to some good use...
This was the summer of disappearing kids and meeting new friends. By that I mean the kids played with friend the ENTIRE day, from sun up to sun down, making me miss them and excited for them all the same.
Emily met these two kiddoes at the park the first day and they were literally inseparable for the rest of the trip. The little girl(the one that is the same size as Jack) is the exact same age as Emily and her older brother was two years older. Every morning the little boy, who looks like an exact replica of the kid from Jerry McGuire, would knock on our trailer door, wake us up and the kids would rush off to play...
The weather was AMAZING so we spent most of our afternoons swimming in the pool. The kids ate up all of the attention they got from Cousin Kristie and Cousin Alison...
While we were at the pool we heard some commotion towards the entrance and found all of the Joneses standing in a line, cheering on Derrick as he finished his bike ride over the pass...
Ice cream for Emily and Charlie and cotton candy for Jack...
When we got back to camp Bryan took the kids up to the little KOA store to pick out a present. He got Charlie this cap gun, the perfect little gift for this crazy little guy...
Emily was very proud of the pony set she got and couldn't wait to show it to Cousin Kristie...
Later that evening Jack's best buddy stopped by and they did some bike riding...

After swimming we headed back to camp to clean up, visit with Jack and Emily's Godfathers and then headed into town...
After lots of biking and cool tricks Jack's buddy came to visit us for an evening of smores and campfire...
