The FAIR....

{Friday, August 12th}

On Friday morning Bryan got up EARLY and headed to Seattle for his official presentation of his Principal Professional  Certification.  He had been working on it diligently all year long, spending many weekends at work throughout the year and staying up late into the evenings after the kids had gone to bed. I know that it was a lot of work for him and I cannot begin to express how proud I am of him.  His presentation ended up going perfectly and he scored all distinguished marks...a great feat considering others did not pass.  To help him celebrate his amazing work we all headed to the fair that afternoon when he arrived home.

The fair for us is all about looking at all of the animals, gorging on deep fried foods and quenching our thirst with fresh squeezed lemon-aid.  This year, with the help of our adventurous little girl, we even opted for a few rides....
I think my favorite part of the whole afternoon was watching the kids at the petting zoo.  Jack is infatuated with baby animals.  I love how he nuzzles them under his chin and looks up at me with those big blue eyes saying, "Look mom.  The baby is so cuuuuuuuute."
The world's largest cow came for a visit...
Emily is currently obsessed with bounce houses and rode this one as many times as her dollars would allow her...

The kids are always eager for some pony rides...
Then we found our way to the rides.  I have to admit that I was really excited that Emily was finally eager to get on some rides...that is until I realized that each ride cost anywhere from $4 to $5 per ride!  So...I only bought enough tickets for Emily to go on two rides and Jack to go on one ride and honestly that is exactly how many they ended up wanting to go on so it worked out perfectly!

Emily wanted to go in this crazy tall maze...
 She skipped the whole way through while I held my breath down below...
 When she finally popped out I was relieved and hope that the next ride would be a little less dangerous...
We tried the helicopters but Emily was TOO TALL.  Can you believe that?  I ride too tall for a four year old?  So we walked across the way and rode some train/truck/car thing...
 By the time this ride was over the kids were over as well.  We made one last stop for cotton candy to ease the pain of transitioning to the car and headed on home.  I have to say that I will always LOVE the Lynden Fair best of all.  Both Bryan and I grew up going to it and there is just something about it that I LOVE.  But we have both decided that for now our little Skagit County Fair is the perfect size for our little kidlets...and they LOVE it as well.
